1) Because of the weapons and the diverce cast of characters most of which are cool.
-Blade_of_Athens
2) For the characters, the atmosphere, the swords, the moves (many are quite uncommon in fighting games), the music, the gameplay. All these things that make the game so different from the other fighting games plus the japanese atmosphere. Definitely my favorite franchise

6) I loved how epic the game seemed, panning in and out with the camera, the bonus stages, the difference in personality and depth in each character's attitude, that went well beyond their battle poses or what they wore.
-Orochigenjuro
7) Because the characters are awesome. My favorite character is Tam Tam
-HEATXZ
8) Because of the characters, the focus on weapons, and since the series as a whole is very traditional as a 2D fighter.
-SSJ Sonikku
9) Haohmaru and Genjuro are two of the coolest characters i've ever seen in a video game. Their designs and styles blow away most other fighting games.
-Xiru
10) The first thing that caught my attention was the anime-like atmosphere; that, and it was the first fighting game I ever played involving weapons, which made it very different.

11) The world was all about SFII when the gem known as Samurai Shodown appeared: it had excelent and detailed graphics, a good atmosphere, superb music and sound, cool characters, and about all a SOLID gameplay, eventually winning the honor of being the Game of The Year 1993 (EGM).

12) SS1. Cutting people in half. Waiting on a line that went down the corridor of the arcade just to be defeated by guys who would beat the crap out of you if you didn't let them win.
SS2. Supers. Cutting people in half. Waiting on a line that went down the corridor of the arcade just be be defeated by guys who would beat the crap out of you if you beat them in front of their girlfriend.
SS3. Deathblows. Cutting people in half. Waiting on a line that went down the corridor of the arcade to beat the crap out of guys who were in denial about their ability while playing the game high.
SS4. Deathblows. Better game mechanics. Playing the game at home on a modified system with a little understanding of japanese.
Also, the soundtrack for the second game, which was one of the first japanese cds I ever owned.

15) Excellent pacing. Basically set the standard for weapon based fighting games. The ability to clash swords, disarm yourself and your opponent, and the fun of the rage meter. Haohmaru and Hattori Hanzo also make the game great, amongst its many other great characters.
